    The following Awards will be distributed at each of the Illinois State Championship tournaments:

     

    Award 

    Award Criteria 

     Champion's Award

    • First Place
    • Second Place
    • Third Place

    Based on strong performance BALANCED across all three areas AND

    • Robot Game score is in top 40% of the highest single scores at the event,
    • Team must complete all 3 parts of the Project
    • Team must adhere to all Core Values
    Robot Design - Mechanical Design Award   This award recognizes a team that designs and develops a mechanically sound robot that is durable, efficient and highly capable of performing challenge missions.
    Robot Design - Programming Award  This award recognizes a team that utilizes outstanding programming principles, including clear, concise and reusable code that allows their robot to perform challenge missions autonomously and consistently. 
    Robot Design - Strategy & Innovation Award   This award recognizes a team that uses solid engineering practices and a well-developed strategy to design and build an innovative, high performing robot
     Project - Research Award  This award recognizes a team that utilizes diverse resources to formulate an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the problem they have identified.
     Project - Innovative Solution Award  This award recognizes a team’s solution that is exceptionally well-considered and creative, with good potential to solve the problem researched.
     Project - Presentation Award  This award recognizes a team that effectively communicates the problem they have identified and their proposed solution to both the judges and other potential supporters.
    Core Values - Inspiration Award   This award celebrates a team that is empowered by their FLL experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.
     Core Values - Teamwork Award  This award recognizes a team that is able to accomplish more together than they could as individuals through shared goals, strong communication, effective problem solving and excellent time management.
     Core Values - Gracious Professionalism Award  This award recognizes a team whose members show each other and other teams respect at all times. They recognize that both friendly competition and mutual gain are possible, on and off the playing field
     Judges' Award  Allows the judges the freedom to recognize remarkable teams that stand out for reasons other than the Core Award categories

     Robot Performance Award

    • First Place
    • Second Place
    • Third Place
     This award recognizes the teams with the highest table scores of all 4 table runs.
     Rookie Team Award  Strongest performance of a rookie team based upon Champion’s Award criteria.
     Team Spirit Award  This award recognizes the team displaying the greatest spirit and enthusiasm at the event. The Award winning team is selected by all teams attending the state tournament.

    Ambassador Awards

    • First Place
    • Second Place
    • Third Place 
     The Ambassador Award goes to the team that exhibits and understands FLL core values and the FLL program as well as the team’s ability to be a positive and enthusiastic representative for FLL in Illinois.
