  • 2014 Season Kickoff

The 2014 FRC season "officially” begins on January 4th with 89 Kickoff Events scheduled across the United States and in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Israel.  These events not only announce the Game Challenge for the new season, but also provide teams with the opportunity to gather and compare notes, exchange ideas, make friends, find mentoring teams, learn the game, pick up their Kit of Parts and get geared up for the exciting competition season!  In addition, several of the Kickoff Events will be hosting workshops on such topics as LabView, Game Strategy, etc., where students, mentors and coaches alike can learn skills or increase their proficiency.

In Illinois there are two scheduled Kickoff Events which teams can attend on January 4th.  One is being hosted by Illinois Tech Robotics at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Hermann Hall in Chicago.  Bradley University's College of Engineering and Technology will also be hosting a Kickoff at Bradley's Renaissance Coliseum in Peoria.

    Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago

    8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (CST)

A 2014 FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff will be held on the campus of Illinois Institute of Technology in Hermann Hall located at 3241 S Federal St., Chicago, Illinois.

The event will feature a live viewing of FIRST's 2014 Season Kickoff  broadcast, as well as Kit of Parts distribution, Kit of Parts inventory assistance, and Field Elements on display.  Workshops will also be held covering many topics including programming in multiple languages, and more.  Hermann Hall can easily accommodate over 50 teams, which should make for an exciting event!

Hosted by the Bradley University's College of Engineering and Technology and sponsored by Caterpillar Inc., the Kickoff will be held in Bradley's new Renaissance Coliseum located at 1600 W. Main Street, Peoria, Illinois.  In addition to the live broadcast of FIRST's 2014 Season Kickoff, teams will be able to pick up their Kit of Parts, and see / examine the new game's Field Elements up close.  Parking for the event will be available in the adjacent deck.

Also Bradley will be offering campus tours for any interested individuals either prior to the 9 a.m. session or following the Kickoff.  If you are interested in a tour, contact the Admissions office at 309-677-1000.
